Mega Catrinas Parade in Mexico City

On the next Sunday, October 27, the Mega Catrina Procession will take place in Mexico City, one of the most anticipated events in the framework of Day of the Dead. More than 30 different contingents will participate in this procession with various costumes inspired by different themes, from Star Wars to ancient medieval catrinas.

The Mega Catrina Procession will begin at 6:30 PM at the Angel of Independence. Before the main parade, seven artistic groups will perform at the same location starting at 2:00 PM. Additionally, around the Angel, starting at 9:30 AM, there will be tents with makeup artists ready to transform attendees into authentic catrinas.

The parade will traverse the main roads of Mexico City, starting at the Angel of Independence and continuing along Paseo de la Reforma, Juárez, and Avenida 5 de Mayo until reaching the city's Zócalo. For this reason, road closures are expected in the surrounding areas, so it's recommended to take alternate routes like Circuito Interior or Avenida Chapultepec.

As for public transportation, the Metrobús will also be affected by the procession, with modifications on lines 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7. The stations and segments that will not be operational will be closed to the public from 5:00 PM. Service will be restored after the Mega Catrina Procession concludes.

It is important to keep in mind that estimates indicate that the event could affect traffic until 11:00 PM, so it's advisable to plan alternative routes and means of transport to be used during that period. Chumbala, cachumbala, cachumbala!
